Our Story
BookTaxiService was founded in 2014 by a small team of London chauffeurs frustrated with the inconsistency of the UK private hire market. The customer experience was wildly variable — late drivers, surge pricing, surprise charges, vehicles that didn't match what was booked.
We set out to build the opposite: fixed prices quoted upfront, vetted chauffeurs you'd be happy to put your family with, and the same standard for every booking — whether that's a £30 station run or a £3,000 multi-day roadshow.
Eleven years later we've delivered more than 120,000 journeys, expanded to every major UK airport, and been adopted by film productions, embassies, finance roadshows, and tens of thousands of families. The principles haven't changed.
We're a small operations team in London supported by a national network of licensed PHV chauffeurs. We don't pretend to be the cheapest. We do believe we're among the most reliable.

How We Vet Our Chauffeurs
Every driver completes this six-stage process before taking a single booking
Application & References
Minimum 3 years professional driving experience and two verifiable references.
Enhanced DBS Check
Full criminal record check via the Disclosure and Barring Service (or local equivalent).
PHV Licence Verification
TfL or local council Private Hire Vehicle licence verified and confirmed in-date.
Practical Driving Assessment
Two-hour assessment covering airport routes, customer service, and emergency handling.
Vehicle Inspection
Vehicle condition, MOT, insurance, and PHV operator approval verified.
Probation Period
First 30 days under increased monitoring and customer feedback review.

Are you a licensed UK chauffeur company?
Yes — we operate under a Private Hire Vehicle (PHV) operator licence and partner exclusively with licensed PHV drivers. Licence numbers can be confirmed on request.
How do you vet your drivers?
Every chauffeur completes a six-stage process: application, enhanced DBS check, PHV licence verification, practical driving assessment, vehicle inspection, and a 30-day probationary monitoring period.
What insurance do you carry?
Every vehicle carries Hire & Reward insurance plus £10 million public liability. We can provide certificate of insurance details for corporate accounts.
Is my data safe?
Yes. We are registered with the ICO and fully comply with UK GDPR. Card data is processed by Stripe (PCI-DSS compliant) — we never store full card numbers. See our Privacy Policy for details.
